Here's my response to “B” from the vegetarian site “30 Bananas a Day!” who suggested that I made a misleading oversight in my recent article “The Curious Case of Campbell's Rats” by not accounting for the young age of the rats in these studies:
Addendum to “The Curious Case of Campbell's Rats”
Enjoy!
I actually followed this diet for longer than I would like to mention and I am so grateful that I came across the work of Weston Price during my pregnancy with my son. I had to overcome many deficiencies that I acquired during the time I was on "the fruit diet."
I know "B" as a friend and would not like to criticize him for trying to prove his point, as I once believed what he did. But I have to say that in my own personal experimentation, the 30bananasaday diet is harmful and dangerous, especially when it comes to children.
Glad to see that discussion is happening about these differing diets, hopefully the right information will reveal itself!
Since WAPF changed their site, the article that Chris linked to is now found at this obnoxiously long URL: https://www.westonaprice.org/component/content/article/55-wapf-blog/2043?qh=YTozOntpOjA7czoxNjoidGhlIGN1cmlvdXMgY2FzZSI7aToxO3M6MTg6ImNhc2Ugb2YgY2FtcGJlbGwncyI7aToyO3M6MTU6ImNhbXBiZWxsJ3MgcmF0cyI7fQ%3D%3D
30 bananas a day. I had never heard of this site. Look at this excerpt from their "Welcome page".
"First and foremost this network was created to support people wanting to succeed on a low fat raw vegan lifestyle not those wanting to debate the validity of it. So please if that's why you want to join, read 811, peruse the forum and do your research first then join us when you are convinced that this is the right way to go…. Please note: We will not tolerate "anti-fruit" posts or advice that recommends calorie restriction/or the suggestion that others are "overeating on fruit", also recommending others restrict their water intake will not be supported on 30BaD. Wow! That is an insane way to think. Talk about being close minded. I wish them well. Tis a shame really.
Hey about bananas, I used to eat them all the time… about 3-4 per week with oatmeal before I changed my diet recently. But I just really wanted some banana today so I chose a single small banana, chopped half of it up into bites, put it in a bowl and drenched it in heavy cream.
It's such a delicious little snack but I'm wondering if a half a banana or maybe a handful of fresh blueberries eaten with organic heavy cream is too much fructose. (in the context of an otherwise whole food high fat diet with no refined sugars and no juice).
Thanks Chris,
Jack K.
Thanks for your comments, John.

Nice work–Going through the whole post and cited refs at 30 Bananas made me glad I can think. I was often reminded of, "Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts," as "facts" like "saturated fat is unhealthy" are used to determine "healthy" foods. Also, reading about associations only, for evidence of proof, is very irritating, especially since many dietary associations just apply to certain select groups.
